New Opportunity During Contract Re-Newal - Advice Needed QUICKLY

So I have verbally accepted my contract re-newal and am just waiting for the paperwork to come through.

Another agent calls me 2 days ago about a role that has come up, which is my ideal fit role in terms of experience, skills, location and interest. I agreed for them to put me forward in case the re-newal wouldn't happen for whatever reason (although today has been confirmed !).

New client now want me to telephone interview tomorrow morning. I have said yes for the moment although don't want to go back on my verbal agreement to re-new and want some continuity in this role at least for the next few months. I do enjoy where I am at the moment, especially working from home 2 days a week and have a very good relationship with my boss and seniors. Additionally the role is career progressive and there will be more renewals in the pipeline they have advised. The only downside is the 90 mile roundtrip for the 3 days of the week. And as mentioned the new role is my ideal role.

I could look to defer the new role should the interview be successful, but client unlikely to wait for 3 months. Am in two minds whether to go ahead with the interview.

Any thoughts / advice welcome quickly please.

Verbally accepted, subject to contract? So it's not accepted until the paperwork is signed and returned...

Go ahead with the interview, it's only a phone one so there is nothing to lose is there. What if they offer you a 25% increase? You could then either use it as a bargaining chip for a payrise in your existing contract or not renew and take the other contract. I don't see that there is a downside, other than the temptation putting you on the spot and forcing you to do a bit of hard bargaining with your current/new client. However much you enjoy working where you do, it's a business deal at the end of the day. Negotiations can be a tough part of doing business but people accept that it has to be done and they can be heavy at times.
