CRB Checks

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has gone through a CRB check recently and wondered if it has taken longer than 10 days and if so how many?

I have been looking around and it says it can take between 10 - 60 days which does not help me. It is the only thing stopping me from being on-site at my new client co at the moment.

Enhanced or standard?

If it's enhanced then they will be waiting for references from your referees. And it will depend on them to get the forms back quickly.

I believe it is the standard one as they keep telling me that it is a basic CRB.

I had an enhanced one done last year (not for a role I should add) and was actually told by everyone i.e. referees, organisation doing the check when different forms had been sent off. The actual check once the paperwork had been done and sent off took 2 weeks.

I think the 60 days covers people who are being checked over bank holidays i.e. Christmas, Easter and busy periods i.e. summer holidays

I think the completed forms went across on the 22nd of March so it will be 10 working days then tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I got one done via a specialist service used by the agency when I got my last gig. Was done in 2 days. Submitted everything either online or via email.

My Mum had one done a few years back, took 2 weeks. I think it's just all dependant on how busy they are, because you know, they have to twiddle their thumbs and unscrew lucozade bottle caps in the day.

DaveB am going to speak to the agency on whether it is worth me doing that. It sounds like a good idea if client co will accept it as they seem to be quite strict on checks. Apparently a while back there were a few Bobs on site that had forged passports and were here illegally so they are ensuring that all agencies follow all the correct procedures and do not cut corners.

A CRB check is only going to find out if you have a criminal record or are on the PNC. It's not going to check immigration status, unless they have already been flagged up.

Yes I know that but the CRB is part of their process and everything must be passed so I can be on site. Due to the issues they had with illegal immigrants they have come down on the agencies. It means that I cannot be on site unless everything is passed. Apparently if one thing was taking time they would normally allow contractors on site until it was passed but due to the issues they had they are much more strict.
