Gratz but 6 weeks isn't very long. It is an extension but only just. I thought I had boomed in a similar way on my last contract for just 4 weeks but problem is they kept me on a rolling 4 weeks for the next 5 months and not advising me until the last day. It became a real pain in the ass and they wouldn't commit to longer. I finally found another role and turned down their offer. Flurry of mails went around but still wouldn't offer more than 4 weeks so I left. I know this type of thing is par for the course sometimes and have to swallow it but I certainly wouldn't commit to them if they couldn't commit to me.

oh yeah totally but better than nothing, there is quite a bit out there at the mo so am not desperate but like the people, enjoy the work, rate is good and easy to get to - so happy for the short extension - think if I didn't like the role so much I'd be looking for at least 6 months...luckily for the bureaucracy involved for extending a contract takes 2-3 weeks so they wont be able to do any last minute extensions (actually don't know if that is good or bad)

perhaps ill crack open a small french beer rather than that magnum of cristal I'd been saving

Yeah I can understand that. I liked where I worked as well so the first few were a bonus but after that it started be more stress than I needed. Unfortuantely the 2-3 week thing isn't good. If they are a bit late starting the process you may have to have a couple of days before you can start again. Happened to me twice. So missed a couple of billing days rather annoyingly.

Anyway, enjoy the beer and just see what happens!

I totally agree it might only be 6 weeks but that's 6 weeks longer off the bench, 6 weeks more work and more importantly 6 weeks more money!

If you have nothing definite elsewhere then thats great you have more work, by the time the 6 weeks is up we will be even further into the year and hopefully there might be even more jobs around by then.

I know to some people taking short contracts/renewals is an issue and I know it depends very much on what you do but it does not bother me, like I said if there is nothing else then its more work/money and keeps me going a bit longer and I'm fine with it.

yeah I think if I didn't like the client it wouldn't be anything to shout about, it's a phased project I'm working on so there is potential for a very long extension but it depends on what I deliver this phase. But 6 weeks is 6 weeks!
