I would expect your agent/client to inform you how they want you to fill-out the BPSS – they're paying for it after all.

I'm currently between contracts no client etc, someone mentioned that it was actually possible to pay a 3rd party company to obtain the clearance, just thought it may be beneficial to have.

Not as far as I know.

If nothing else it's not portable and a new one has to be done every time you change client on behalf of the client. BPSS isn't really a security clearance as such, just a glorified ID check.
