    Length of CVs

Having spent the last few months getting much more involved in searching through the CV database to find CVs I find it incredible in this day and age that contractors are still producing Cvs of 9 plus pages . There is also a direct correlation between the contractors who are available and the length of CVs. So the chances are that if someone is available who appears to have the skills that are required the chances are ruined by a long CV.

To be fair I have reviewed a good number of CVs of CUKers and have found almost all of them to be really good.
I have also found that the majority of contractors who I leave a message with or send an email to never call me back. initially frustrated at this and knowing how you guys feel about agents I now just happily assume that if they were available then they would call me back
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

You can keep 100% of the IT contract rate when you do 100% of the IT work.

I dunno how true the addage is but I've always limited mine to two pages, first page with all the skill set, qualifications, key statements etc and a page of job history.

How much history do you have?

i think 3 pages is about right, mine currently stretches to 4 but will trim it down on next version

thread through 5/6 page CV's and i fine them mainly pointless

i think you can have a 5/6 pager for your full CV but it should be edited down to 3/4 and tailored dependant on the job you're going for

I've increased mine from 2 to 3 pages, and have also been asked for a 4 page version recently.

We need to dig that thread out from a couple of months ago where they guy had a 15-20 page CV and would not budge in the face of all of us trying to tell him otherwise.

I actually shortened my CV a year or so ago and then had to lengthen it again to 4 pages as every agent asked me for a longer CV. Oddly enough companies I contracted directly with were fine with the shortened version............

Never gone above 4 pages but now reduced to 3, I think thats plenty. I now start my CV with a summary detailing the commonality of what I do on all/most contracts - and the detail of each contract only extends what made that contract unique. It's an object-orientated CV.
