I moved this from general as adviced by anther poster.

    Hi guys,

I had a reed through the different messages and want to become a contractor. One of my mates knows a contractor that earns over £200 a day!!!! For me that would be a dream come true. I dont want on focus on money or financial viewpoint I am a good worker. I currently work in IT support but its pretty boring, same call just repeated all day. I have been learning Java though and written some nifty apps such as a tetris like game, its not finished as all the blocks are still one shape. I digress sorry.

So how do I go about getting a Java contract I would prefer 12 months as I have a big mortagae (over 100k).

    Thansk for replies.

On the right hand side ----> under CUK Navigation there are useful links. These include an Agency Directory. Go to the web site of each one and register your CV. Use the Contract Search to fine "java" roles and submit your CV.

Before long your phone will be ringing red hot with agents calling you to interviews.

Attend the interviews and choose the one paying the most.

    Simples!
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

You should upload it to your web site and include a link to it in your CV under "Portfolio".

Then prospective employers can see what you can do.

On your web site, where they can download the game, you also need a document listing all the bugs.

This way they can see you are a professional and take your software development seriously and know all about 'defect management'.

You should also add a number to the end of the name and change it each time you improve it or fix a bug. Tetrisv1.exe to Tetrisv2.exe and so on. This shows you know all about 'version control'.

That's really all there is to know about programming as a contractor, really.

            Good luck!

Well, if you don't want to earn the full £200 per day as a professional contractor...

... just could just put a PayPal link next to it and you could make a living selling shareware games.

                  That's what we call a 'Plan B'.

See? This contractor malarkey is so easy, and for so much money.

The hardest part is working out which country to hide all your money in so the tax man can't find it.
