If I was in your shoes, I would do a search on the internal Accenture opportunities database, and see if you can get yourself assigned to a UK-based engagement. Yes, this means that you'll still be an Accenture employee, but there are a multitude of benefits in doing it this way.

Here are some of them...

Accenture will handle the logistics of getting you to the UK (flights, temporary accommodations, transportation of personal effects, etc.).
Working for Accenture will make it much easier for you to open bank accounts, get an NI number (if you don't already have one), get local credit cards, etc.
You'll have a job and income while you become familiar with the local contract market, housing options, etc.
When you do decide to quit, you'll have current UK experience.
If you decide you don't like the UK, being with Accenture will allow you to return easily to the US, or to go somewhere else.

Leverage your current position to achieve your goals.

This is uncommonly sensible advice. Your EU citizenship will hopefully make it easier for Accenture as well.

How does this repping work? How can you see who has done what. I went away for a couple of years and it had all changed!

Check settings at the top bar. It will tell you if you have had a positive or negative rep along with a comment. Depending on points your comment will change by your avatar. Rep from good posters counts more, from noobs count less.

Hit the star on the bottom left of the posting you are looking at and a little window will come up asking if you approve or dissaprove and comment why.

You can't keep repping the same person, you have to spread it around and there is a limit per day you can do.

You cannot see who posted rep unless they put their name in the text box... Simple!!

Thats has gotta be worth some rep <nudge nudge>
