Ok, so you have now moved up to £650 for a "few" candidates. That's a long way from where we started. Can you let me know what the rate ceiling is before I submit my cv? Ta. -
Presumably if you're totally amazing you can get £1000/day, IF you genuinely do 3X the work
If I worked in this skill I'd put forward an offer of supplying a mini-team of one expert (me) and 3 drones at £1500/day or so. Sadly I don't

It's not necessarily doing "3X the work", it's a question of knowing what you are doing. Most people don't. At that includes most of Pega's senior consultants.Originally posted by d000hg View PostPresumably if you're totally amazing you can get £1000/day, IF you genuinely do 3X the work

I've seen this role posted all over Jobserve. It's Pega running on IBM WebSphere + WebSphere MQ. The internal architecture of Pega is based on an ancient code-base written in C/C++ many years ago; it was never designed for fault-tolerant distributed architectures like WebSphere and MQ. I pointed out these issues to Pega's own consultants when working on a big project for a UK Banking client, and they were clueless. Yes, it installs on Websphere, but it's a kludge. In the end, a long telephone call with their CTO in the US finally got me somewhere, but it was still left to me to figure out architectural workarounds for the client, as Pega weren't prepared to make the deep architectural changes required to their product. Most people don't realise this stuff, however, as they don't do their research and design properly. As I say, it's a question of knowing what you are doing, not being 3X faster.
Still, I'm sure The Agent's View just wants some cheap bodies and a healthy profit margin. So all the above is irrelevant. Quality isn't what most clients or agencies want these days; a cheap drone is more than enough. Oh, and the job is in the middle of nowhere. Not sure if TAV mentioned that in his sales pitch?nomadd liked this postComment

Ultimately I need 12 resources - end of.Originally posted by SofaKingdom View PostOk, so you have now moved up to £650 for a "few" candidates. That's a long way from where we started. Can you let me know what the rate ceiling is before I submit my cv? Ta.
My limit for one person would be 650 really - ultimately that would mean I need to find 3 much lower level resources to balance things out. This is where the quality issue starts to become a little complex.
If you have a team of lower level Pega developers who can work under you, then I will look at a "bulk buy" approach - total charge rate to me of £1600 per day, for 4 people - as long as they all have a year or so's experience and you can back them up (you're gonna have to work with them, so I wouldn't feed me donkeys if I were you!) - then that figure might even have a couple of quid in it for you.....
Remember though - these are only developers - I'm not after architects, I'm not after IT Directors, I want developers......"Being a permy is like being married, when there's no more sex on the cards....and she's got fat."

Cheap bodies and healthy profit? We're in the middle of a bloody recession mate - profit margins aren't the biggest concern right now - survival is - to be honest we're squeezed to the ends of the earth at the moment - I'm not overly fussed about these massive profit margins you seem to think only apply to the agency world - I want my candidate base to be working, I want the turnover to keep some of my figures looking submissable, and most importantly, I want someone who can help my client find solutions without moaning about it - what possible use is the information about what architecture is being used to anyone? It's hardly as if I can control it at this stage?
Location is Worcester, which is about 30 miles from Birmingham - which is hardly "in the middle of nowhere""Being a permy is like being married, when there's no more sex on the cards....and she's got fat."

Er, ...... <nah, shut it HAB>Originally posted by The Agents View View PostLocation is Worcester, which is about 30 miles from Birmingham - which is hardly "in the middle of nowhere"How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
