    TAV, thanks for the comment.

    The problem arises, as you imply, because most agencies do not work that way. If all agencies did work the way you describe, then contractors would have no problem with agencies. Unfortunately they don't, and worse, the agencies who are lying scum often seem to have the contracts; and since ultimately what I am seeking is a contract, not an agency, I have to work with the agents who have the contracts.

      I can accept what TAV says quite readily. And it's yet another reason why I greatly prefer to use the agents within agencies that I know and have worked with successfully in the past. It's a two way street and in my line of work there's usually at least 3 agencies offering me the same gig.
