    Contract extension ...Help Please..

Hi, my contract is coming to an end Dec 31, and have been offered an contract extension until end of May.

I have made a Business case for rate increase due to my Role change…and I assume it’s been put forward to the client by the agent…In the client site I guess this has to go though an approval process….its been a week since i have forwarded my business case to the agent.

How long should before I contact the Agent for updates on this…..

I don’t want to be in situation where I am still at client’s site in Jan without a contract agreed…or neither I want to show the agent that I am too keen..

What’s the best approach should I be taking in this situation….any thoughts?

There is a line spoken by Marsellus Wallace in Pulp Fiction which I find a useful reminder in all of life's endeavours.

We don't want to think, we want to know.
You need to talk to the agent and you need to make subtle enquiries to the client to find out if the agent is telling you the truth.

My contract is up 31st Dec, there's loads of work planned up to 2012 so I pushed the agent to get it sorted ASAP asking for a small rate rise during the process.

He got back to me earlier saying I've been canned. No idea as to why?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Do you know/trust the client or manager enough to be able to ask them why, directly? Just mention you would have liked to have stayed on. I`d wonder if the agent wants to get someone else in cheaper for a bigger margin. I always negotiate via the agent but if contract not renewed and if I like it there I will discuss with client also.

WHS, always have a chat with the client before the agent. Find out what might be going on internally

and ask them what they are paying - sometimes pimps try to shaft both you and the client by telling different stories
