Even in hard times, my company refuses to work for VM. We got burned by poor attraction techniques, poor communication, complete lack of direction, poor management, undefined objectives, and under valued contractors, and recruiters.

Ultimately, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Now bear in mind I work for a recruitment firm - and times are hard - it takes something pretty special for a recruitment firm to refuse to work with you...... (although we appear to have a growing number of these people as companies start panic cuts, rate slashes and devaluation of the workforce which saw them through the good times....)

Yeah, I would advise anyone looking at VM Transition roles to think again. The management is shocking, the team morale changes whenever the management are in the room, the boss is inexperienced in managing people and they are hiring people that have no idea wtf they are doing.

There are a few in the team that are good, but the lack of decent management lets them down.

The rates are shocking and when you go to another site, you travel in your own time!!!! This only applies to team members, not management, who seem to do as they please....hypocrites!

They have a strict 9-5:30 rule and seem to have a real downer on contractors in the team. No flexibility if you are a contractor...none, zilch, but if you are a permie then you can do what you like!!!

By far the worst place I have ever worked!!!!! By FAR>>>>>>>>>

Not quite. VM were always VM, now they are VM + the bits of NTL still identifiable after VM ate them.

I assume they still operate out of NTLs old offices in Hook. Now that was a fun gig

Spoke to 'GAYS IT' on-site guy about client - he agreed and said that I wasn't the first to complain about 'culture'. He had some major run ins with the client.

It was good to know someone else who was having issues - until then I thought it was just me.

Best part of being a contractor, contract ends - I'm off!

Nothing will change there until the muppets that run the team are changed.

Mind you, there are culture problems throughout the whole company, not just the team I was in.....

                      Attitude Problem

I've been a contractor for many years, and I'm utterly appalled by the attitude by some of the posters on this thread, in particular Davey Jones. Do your job, get paid for it, move on if you don't like it, but NEVER slag off an employer in a public forum. It's highly unprofessional, it paints us all in a bad light where in fact most people want to do the best they can AND there are plenty of people willing to take your job in the current economic climate.

I would fire anyone on the spot for posting this type of nonsense.
