Conversation with agent today:
Agent: Got your CV re: role, would you like us to fwd to client?
Me: Yes please
Agent: Slightly concerned you're too senior for the role....
Me: I'm not. I would certainly be able to do the job standing on my head, and will add lots of value for them, but its a good match for me. I dont apply for things I don't intend to stick with, too much hassle.
Agent: Hmm..Ok. What rate?
Me: (Quotes the highest rate advertised)
Agent: Hhmm, well I will put you in at (quotes rate 30 per day lower)
Me: Given that you have admitted I am a superior match for the role, surely putting me in at the highest rate makes sense?
Agent: I think it makes sense to put you in at that rate.
Does this highest rate actually not exist (i.e. rate = £400-£450 per day)? Or would putting me in at the offered rate put the client off? Why don't they just make us GUESS at the rate then, jeez.
