At the moment the market, although better than it has been is tough, compared to a few years back when any Tom, Dick or Harry could get in.

However, and we keep repeating this, there are technical roles. If you have real-time experience you'd probably have a good chance, say in Telecomms or Satellite communications.

Dork, at the moment I can potentially place good test analysts (with or without finance experience), or business analysts with insurance experience, in front of real opportunities in London. Please let me know if you would like to discuss.

        Investment banking..INVESTMENT EXPERIENCE NOT NEEDED!!

        Forget about agencies.

Find a list of investment banks and then look at their recruiting process individually for a "permie" role; the requirements might be more relaxed.

For instance, at UBS a leading investment bank. They recruit people with experience from any industry (and not just university milkround/investmnet banks)

        Here's the link...

P.S Watch the video "USB investment banking" there are close ups of some of the people working there. They look like right c*nts, though (earring, knobhead hair style).

            Guy sounds like a child...

... The other children won't let me play with them, boo-hoo-hoo. The most stupid question anyone can ask is : 'They want jobs with experience, but how can you get any without working?' Is it hard to work out ? They don't want novices! There are no baby-sitters for you ! My advice is that with a permie mentality, one wouldn't last for 2 mins in a cut-throat environment.
As a lot of other, more patient members, have already said. Try another way,
if you can work out which one is the best, rather than try and jump on the bandwagon. I don't mind giving advice (I have done in the past) for new entrants to the contract market, however not for the likews of: 'I have seen contracts for £ 500 p/d, I'd like to get one' Don't we all ?

i get the impression that a lot of 'investment banking' posts are to do with the agency trying to get into investment banking themselves.

when they have a few experienced people on their books they can then sell into the financial sector

I got into Banking purely because of technical ability. i.e. having a rare skill and being very good at it. Most of my experience had been in MRD, but fortunately the bank saw the advantage of my architectural/development skills.

Some people make a killing at these banks, I'm sure my PM is on something like £700 day!! The average rate is much lower probably at £400.

Sod investment banking, you want to be on public sector contracts, the rates are very nice due to the govt mantra of 'more efficiency = more IT'...

                  Older and ...well, just older!!

                      2. Found the site by accident and remembered a post about investment banking experience on here.
