Importance of a web site

so tell me as I have not been able to fathom this out - what has 6 sigma got to do with BPA? Is it the statistical side that is being utilised?

I have just recently invested In a website to try and inject some interest ito my services , I had a website before but it was not Search engine optimised and non existant on google.

I'm currently working with a great web designer , I have not even finished the content and I've already had about 20 calls this past few weeks due to potential clients and agents finding my website through google , and thats without working much on the content which badly needs updating

The developer has got me on page one on google for most of my key searches and it paying dividends already.
I honestly think that companies are trying to cut out the agents to reduce costs.

My recommendation is to pay for good SEO as without it your just not going to get any business from your site. I paid less than £700 for my site with all the SEO and logo desgin included .which isnt bad considering i was quoted upto and above £3000

I've tried googling some of your key searches and you haven't appeared on page one for me.

Give it a few weeks and come back again - maybe it will then...

My CV has been on the web for over 10 years. It gets high rankings on Google and others.

No potential client has ever contacted me as a result of having seen it, though several have searched and found it after contacting me through an agency. I.e. they do know how to google, they just don't want to use that as a way of finding contractors.

Numerous agencies have contacted me as a result of my CV being on the web. Often they call me but seemingly don't have it in front of them (or can't read) since they don't know what's in it. In some cases they seem to have only a short keyword list, whether provided by their own search monkey or on some bought-in list, I don't know.

A large number of people have contacted me asking for free advice, free copies of documentation or software, or indeed to give them a job.

The only time I can be sure that it did me some good was when the owner of an agency found my other, personal, pages interesting so wanted to meet me in person.

Overall, the result of having my CV on the web is, like most seemingly logical activities in contracting, not necessarily better than random.

I've just looked at my stats. Visits to my website have jumped this afternoon, bringing the total to a massive 59 (Edit: was 20, then 30, 48. Nice).


I would love to thank you all and I hope that those visitors from HSBC and Credit Suisse don't get into trouble for visiting a website with so many naughty words on it.

Absolutely spot on. I could have written that, except I did manage 1 day of paid work once which netted me a grand total of £650. If I had a fiver for the number of times I get called upon to give free advice I'd be a millionaire now.
