I bet this is some aborted project that went to India (or India came here), got fecked up and now they want someone to fix all the crap at Indian rates?

No. It's for the NHS so money is a little tight and it's not a senior role, it's a code monkey role nothing strategic. Hence the rate which is about £24 an hour, not THAT bad for plonkey development work is it?!

Money is a little tight because they've given it all to Accidenture/BT etc. - all forms of Government waste are now being outsourced to private companies who can do the job so much better.

Yes, funny how they can afford circa £1500 p/d for people who don't achieve anything more than the average contractor, but when it comes to us the budgets a bit tight.

On my last public sector job Accidenture had a burn rate of around £1m per month, yet the only people who delivered any live apps in that year were the contractors.

LOL you're preaching to the converted Joe ;-) I know that 'Sin'tegra and Accidenture are doing a tulip job and all the meaty roles come out of Leeds and the DoH account but this is just a little plonky in house role. soz it not paying more guys but thats the score, ok ok ok ok £25 an hour?

Well reformation, if you're one of those poor b*rstards in the public sector who's actually fighting against the system to get something useful done, while you watch millions being p*ssed down the drain on the consultancies, then I sympathise.

I've worked on a few good public sector projects where I've seen all the cash being spent on Accidenture and such like, while someone struggles to get some people in to do a real job using tactics and covert budgetary tricks that would put MI5 to shame.

Keep trying is all I can say....

Leeds is indeed the current trough where many companies are burying their snouts in public money... word on the grapevine however is that Accidents waiting to Happen are being slowly phased out and other companies are scenting blood... Ive been approached three times already this week for roles there... one involving a tie in with Microsoft.

P.S Atos Origin and the like are milking the NHS for millions. One company I worked for was charging me out at £248 an hour.
