Is the market on the up or not ?

    Morning All,

Get the distinct impression things are on the up in the .NET Dev. contract market (South Uk) either that or a few projects have kicked off.

How are others finding things at the moment ?

The economy as a whole is picking up but do not be fooled - there is a second wave of the recession coming along.

Dead!! I'm in a pretty niche market and there has not been a contract job posted on JobServe for about a month - bit of a bummer as I am finishing here on Friday..

It appeared on the uppish trajectory for a while, but then seemed to flip-flop, with the rates taking a further beating this time around.

Seen few things in the South West but mostly in the #200 - #250 per day range. Just can't afford to work for that if it means B&Bing it Mon - Fri.

I'm finding infrastructure engineer/consulting roles are picking up in the SE. QUite a few financial services clients are starting to hire again, although I hear other banks are having more rounds of redundancies.

Had to turn down three 'urgent' roles over the past week - wouldnt leave my current gig as I really like it - so had to ask them to look elsewehere.

I had an agent contact me about a SW gig for £28/hr, which I might have done if it had been local. But as you say B&B for the week and it just isn't worth it.

Other than that dead quiet for me. I'm happily working on the Plan B, but I'm starting to wonder if the Plan B is now my only option.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Isn't plan B "keep playing the lottery" for everyone?
