    hi Darren,

Heres some advice on a couple of answers to those questions:

Q: In a scale of 1-10 where you stand on ---??
your answer A: 6 (I was just average on that skill)
sounds like you dont have confidence in that skill

my solution: hit the books before interview tell em 9 , hit books after interview so can deliver.

Q: Do you have any experience in ------??
A: No (I didn't had any experience through I could have related some of my experience with that technology)

my solution: do a some research and tell them YES

    Q: Weakness..?
A: Did not give ant typical answer, saying that no weakness that could
affect carrying out a role like this..!!

my answer : my weakness is im a perfectionist and have to get things right,
often I end up spending hrs at home working on work stuff.

The fact of the matter is the other interviewees are going to be giving those answers. Who would you offer the postition to ?

I agree read a book. "I read a book" counts as experience, if you can answer some questions. I've got interviews on the strength of "I read a book", and then I answer lot of gruelling questions. If you can answer them better than the other candidate you get the job.
        I'm alright Jack

I've got an old boss who took me on as a junior consultant, paid me peanuts, and billed me out at top rates.

Once he sent through my consulting CV to a client which he had added several fictitious projects to. He warned me just not to mention that and that he was just sweetening things.

          Always worked out fine.

I was browsing his linkedin profile recently. He claims 20 years experience. He is 38 so is counting his uni years as experience.

He also had a link to his blog. It contains a series of articles by him on "How to prepare for an interview". He recommends complete honesty and never exaggerating anything ever.

He probably honestly believes it as well. The delusional don't have to be dishonest because they actually believe it.

I have got 20 years (and then some) experience, but it doesn't seem to be doing me much good at the moment!

Of course he will advocate telling the truth duriing interviews - then he will have a great advantage as he is going to brag and lie during interviews - tough cheddar .

                  Self assessment on technical skills:

6 = never heard of it
7 = someone in the same building was using it once
8 = read an article about it on Wikipedia a while ago
9 or 10 if you've actually had occasion to use it on a real project

Yep, that is the problem with asking people to assess themself.

Some people think that having a passing knowledge counts as an 8 and some people think that it counts as a 2.
