    An annoying agency habit

Phone call out of the blue. Seen my CV on Jobserve, thinks i'm great for the role. Have a good chat, seems like a real opportunity and not some fishing exercise etc etc.

He says again at the end of the convo that i'm great for the role, and he's about to send over the jobspec.

    Then...silence.

So obviously a fishing exercise, but other than confirming that i live and answer the telephone he's got no information.

    Agencies eh. Bless 'em.

If he'd phoned up and said "just seen your cv, mind if i put it in our DB for future use ?" it would have the same result in 30 secs, not literally 15 minutes talking about a made up role.

            Waste of both our time.

All I can think of is that in these tough times they need to be seen to be
doing things by their management, the self employed agents won't be p1ss1ng about like that.

Then again, if he'd NOT phoned up and thought "Hmm, C a recent CV on Jobserve, I think I'll put it on our DB for future use" it would have been down to 15 secs and no cost of a call.

Yeah but then he wouldn't have verified the contact details, which i can only presume was his objective.

Well, its the only half sensible objective anyway...

It's happened to me about 5 times in the last three months. Mind you, they usually have at least attempted to "fish".

The job specs I haven't seen you wouldn't believe!

Then again, maybe all agencies are sending their emails out via the same broken email server?
