    Useless fliping Agents

Just got off the phone with my pimp, well my new "business manager", the cute one's been "let go"

Many of you will have noted on other threads that I've not really had a bad word to say about my agency and in fact have defended them on a number of occasions, so I won't name and shame just yet!

    However....

The phonecall went along the lines of...

Hi, how are you doing? Everything going well for you there?

Well, what it is... The FD has been looking at your contract and we're not making any money out of you. We've talked that through with clientco and they aren't willing to up your rate so we're going to be asking you to take a cut in your rate.... We may even be looking to pull you from site (even though we haven't got anywhere else to place you)...

Well, I'm no wilting daisy, so I laid it out straight....

You made me an offer, knowing the rate you were getting from clientco

    We agreed the deal

You formalised that deal as a contract

You now don't think you're making enough money out of me so you want me to drop my rates, even though clientco hasn't dropped it's rates to you?

THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

Anyway, he's scuttled away to have a word with his FD

I've formulated a plan of action. Clientco are more than happy with both my work and the rate they're paying for me (though many of the other contractors on site had to take a rate cut earlier this year when things were very sticky). They will not allow this poxy agent (World Class Global Organisation) to mess them around, neither will I

    Bring it on!

If the agency "does not want to represent you", then tell them you'll be going direct or with an agency that will be happy to take 5% for factoring services.

The silly sods are just throwing away turnover and upsetting a client. Or trying to rip you off.

Edit: by the way, he has not spoken to the FD. That is the old "I must check with my boss" routine that car salesmen use. The FD probably knows nothing about this, assuming there is one.

They are pulling a fast one. If they are big and can screw say £20 per week out of say 5000 contractors it will make a big difference to their profits.

He was speaking to me like I was supposed to care that they're not making a penny off me

        They picked the rates.

I was offered the option to go flat rate at x, or go for a slightly lower initial rate, leading to a far superior rate after 6 months.

They're making a pound an hour for basically factoring my invoices. I never went whinging to them that they were taking £275 a week off me for the 1st six months

They can try it on all they like, they're in danger of losing a valuable contractor (that's me in case you hadn't guessed ) and a global organisation if they start playing silly buggers....

I will virtually guarantee that they won't enforce this - they're chancing their little money grabbing arms

If they are telling the truth, now's your chance to offer to buy them off and go direct.

Offer them £5 to leave them.

Why waste a fiver when I can wait until they break the contract and legitimately disappear off into the sunset
