    Would you take this?..

    If you're a .NET developer:

    C#.NET
    London Gatwick area
    6 months+
    £25 p/h
    40hrs p/w

Depleted warchest, cack market and above rate considered, would you take this contract if you had to work and stay away from home to do it?

This is not an open request for a slag fest - please be gentle

I know but you have to be careful how you word these hypothetical questions otherwise it's open day for the trolls.

If you need the cash then take it to tide you over.

Absolutely. If you need the cash and have the skills, why not?

In this market I would say take it. Even if it means staying away you should still end up five or six hundred quid per week in the positive rather than depleting your reserves.

What would you rather do? Nothing?

Now a twist in the tale

Thanks for the input so far..Ok so how about this little conundrum:

The role is actually real but the client has been struggling for months to get anyone to take the role because the rate is too low and the required skills are too niche.

In that vein, they have agreed to increase the rate from £25 to £35 p/h and this child-co in the UK is awaiting final sign-off of this rate increase from the parent-co in the US..and this has been the current state of play for the last 5 weeks.

The same conditions as before (no warchest, no current gig etc):

Would you take the £25p/h knowing that if you do, you'll be stuck on that rate with no hope of the increase to £35p/h for at least 6 months? OR
                  Hold out for the £35p/h

I would still take the £25. Its good to have a full CV. Keep skills fresh. In 6 months market will be better.
