Would also appreciate thoughts on ISEB and its usefulness.

I'm considering the Requirement Engineering, Organisational Context/Business Analysis Essentials and Modelling Business Processes modules this Summer/Autumn.

    Worth having?

AFAIK practical purposes its useless...But in this difficult period I have seen pimps using this as filtering condition..ie for testers foundation & practitioner for management roles..same in case of prince2 certifications..

My other half has done these ISEB ones and I've done the Carnegie Mellon versions. The ISEB ones were better, however, if you are already a BA, neither teaches anything new.

pfft...just stick it on your CV then and see what happens, I imagine 95% of roles will never ask you for proof of having this.

Those are the ones that get you most of the way towards the "Diploma in Business Systems Development Specialising in Business Analysis".

I have that. I think Cojak does too.

I think they are a good thing to do in that it raises the game a bit if people do them and I am all for raising the game. They have never got me any work though.

The first two you mention are good for organising your thought processes and being able to take the guru role over the whole SDLC process.

The third one I always thought was for new grads working for consultancies to do so that they could quickly turn out some bulltulip when they arrive somewhere new, don't know what is going on, but need to churn out something to justify the £1K per day that their firm is charging for them.

Done it,passed it. Expect same formula as the foundation exam, max 1 minute to read question and find the answer.

ISEB does help you get through the initial interview sift process.

                Oh yes...

I found Requirements Engineering and Business Process Modelling quite interesting RH, but as always I found that talking to other delegates as useful as the courses themselves. The others were refreshers but I enjoyed them...

I would recommend the company I went with though. It was small and not as expensive as the big boys but had its pass rates on it's website - always a good indicator of quality in my book...

                  got it...:-)

                  Got it....I passed..!
18/25...with out any prep or with out sample questions...

My Tips for ISEB Intermediate (testing) are..

                  - No need to study..use your logic as all are logical/practical questions
                  - No trip to London (BCS) as Prometric provides computer based exam around UK now.

                  Thanks guys..
