True if you're a web monkey with years of ASP.NET experience but if you're a .NET developer in a sector other than web, it seems a bit slower..my niche skills do not appear to be working at the moment.

        Hello,

Just a quick message to say thank you very much for applying for the
position we advertised. As usual the response has been overwhelming and
we are trying to at least reply to everyone to acknowledge receipt.

I am afraid on this occasion we won't be able to proceed any further
with your CV, our client have actually placed this position on hold
whilst they review the current batch of CV's, however if the role does
become live again, or anything else suitable arises, we will get right
        in contact.

          One timewaster already today.

Pimp: The role we spoke about, XXX have increased their budget now and are interviewing.

Me: Oh, OK. By the way, what was the role we spoke about, I seem to recall you were going to email me a client spec but didn't, can you send one on please?

Pimp: Er, My client doesn't have a written spec, but they are interviewing now.

Me: Oh, OK, well as soon as you have a spec, pop it over to me and we'll have a chat about it.

Pimp: Er, my client doesn't have a spec, they are just doing interviews based on the broad skill set

          Me: Err... <CLICK>

The market is definitely getting better.

I have been on the bench for 6 months, had only 2 face to face interviews in 5 months.

Suddenly I have 6 interview in April and an offer although 15% less compared to my last rate.

I specialise in .net technologies within investment banking if anybody is interested

              Good and Bad

The market is not moving at all, I been trying for 5 weeks now, and have good skill sets, had 2 interviews and one offered, only to be scrapped later by the financial director (big uk firm). So it is getting dire out there. Some of the rates offered are silly as well.

Picking up for me too - just bagged an interview.

It's not till next week and there will be some technical testing so I guess I'll need to hit the books this weekend.

                  Well as we're on a roll ...

I had a call from an ex colleague wanting to know my availability. Nothing definite, but the hottest potato I've had for quite a while.

Being extended until November 09, no rate cut either.

I wonder how many people are balking at low rates and holding out for more money? I wonder how many will be taking the lower rate 6 months on having depleted the war chest?
