    Clearance required.....

What happened to the new guidelines?

Applied for role this morning (6 months) and got this back

"Thank you for your email and interest in this contract.

As the job advert explains this position requires that someone has current DV-security clearance, without this current level of security clearance I cannot consider your application.

    Many thanks and best wishes,"

    So I sent back

"Just wondered if you were aware of the goverment guidelines in this area

    http://www.pcg.org.uk/cms/index.php?...491&Itemid=291

I am more than willing to undergo DV security clearance yet I am being denied opportunities because I don't have it"

    Then received ....

"Thank you for your email. I am currently out of the office until Wednesday 18th March 2009.
Please call nnnn and ask for a member of the IT Niche team, otherwise I will contact you on my return"

Talk about ducking and diving. Is it worth reporting them?

It may be worth doing, but I'm not sure if anything could or would be done about it.

A quote from the link you posted "pre-existing clearance may now only be required if work must be completed in less time than it takes to obtain clearance".

As it's a 6 month contract I expect the agency would possibly try to wriggle out of any slapped wrists by saying that the clearance would probably take longer than the contract is for.

So are these govt guidelines worthless, since no employer or agency seems to be taking any notice of them?

I think that by posting their emails on a public forum you are automatically disqualified from any hope of security clearance anyway.

And by reading them, so am I. D'oh.
