Have been a contractor for the past 6 years pretty much working back 2 back on contracts with anything from 3 months to 18 months lenght. Picked up some great experience, good rates, saved most of it, even managed to get some training from a bank....
Last year, with news of the recession looming, i was contacted about a PERM job locally, within 20mins from my house - it was 6 months probation, for £35k + 15% bonus and benefits, - after 2 interviews i took the role.
12 months later, im still sat here, still on probation because the employer has come up with some crappy excuse that theres a hire freeze on, and been told im getting no pay increase, no bonus - basically nothing.
As a result i have handed in my notice and am on the verge of accepting another PERM job starting at £40k + bonus + benefits.
HOWEVER - in the back of my mind, im thinking shall i just bog off for a month - referesh myself from this permie land rubbish and come back in MAY seeking a contract.....
What are your thoughts, how is it out there? Would you play safe for another PERM job or throw caution to the wind and go for a contract in MAY.
Hope this isnt boring anyone.
