    Hi

I am new to contracting and would like to get some advise.

Do I need to start/open a limited company?
How would I minimise my NI payments?
Should I belong to an umbrella company?

What other questions should I be asking?

    Search and you will find.

How do I navigate this site in order to find out the answer to these questions which have been asked every now and then already...
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

if your using agencies, use an invoicing service and be self employed.

It's much better than umbrella as there is no employers NI. Self employed people have a much wider range of expenses compared to umbrellas.

Your own company can be better still, but this carries loads of admin and you'll be stuck to this site all day.

Other questions you could ask are:

Do I really need an Accountant?
Can I really squander all the money from my business?
Do I really need a business bank account?
Should I really register for VAT to charge the clients VAT?
Is my contract, without going into detail, IR35 complaint?

            Dunno... endless possibilities.

              1. Do I need to start/open a limited company? No. You could use an umbrella company.

              2. How would I minimise my NI payments? By using a limited company not an umbrella company.

              3. Should I belong to an umbrella company? Yes, if you want to maximise the NI payments.

                    Forgot to add...

                    How do I raise invoices?
Does it matter if I raise all the invoices at the end of each year, or do I have to raise it weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or bi-monthly?
