I've also had two people from one agency say they were putting me forward for a role, and would send me through the job spec but again, nothing.
He doesn't have the roles. He is using your CV to pitch for a possible contract.

I don't like the idea of people using my cv without my knowledge with potential clients to pitch.

You could already have been put forward to the client by another pimp and it looks bad.

Thats right, we should be fully aware of who is getting our CV and what the real prospect is of getting the role. Why do agents have to be so cloak and dagger. They raise your spirits calling out of the blue, not asking for refs, giving the impression of a good agent, going through the motions of rate, location, skills etc, often complimenting your 'strong CV' and experience, say they want to forward your CV to the client and that they will email a full job spec then nothing. Bad manners. If there is no real job then say so, at least I know your marketing me rather than stringing me along.

The agents must be pestering clients as much as they pester us, in the end no one wins.

I'm having the same problem, but the pimps have always been a bit elusive if your not helping with their commission.

I've actually started to keep a list of all the pimps, roles & dates I send my CV's out so I can watch the trends, and blacklist the pimps who were useless.

had another of these today myself, no fishing for leads, sounds promising, then nothing.

on the other hand, i'd find it pretty soul destroying if that was job day in day out lying to people, trying to prise little pieces of info out of people etc

no sympathy for them right enough!

Go nuclear. I did and I'm now in work till July 09 (from June 08). Other stuff recently that I thought might have come good haven't materialised so I'm sticking like glue till July I reckon now.

Nuclear industry. Apart from insolvency firms, nuclear is the UK's only growth industry. And they can't employ indians very easily because of the security implications.

A brief glimmer in the 2nd week of Jan, then nothing. I get the occasional phishing call, and not much else. Been out since end of November, and had several financial body blows - including hefty garage bills. This has eaten into my "war chest" much more than I would have wanted to. I think I can hang on by fingertips until April, but not much more tbh.

Thought my bacon had been saved when I have a first interview, entrance exams, second interview and contract offer. Been waiting ever since for the contract to turn up. I have chased the pimp, but its always "domani".

Really tough at the minute. I notice myself getting a bit snappy which is not like me. Wife is heavily pregnant with the third and I feel a bit trapped tbh.

Seriously considering going back to perm work. Would absolutely hate to, but needs must. The problem with that is I've been benched for months and any future permy employer would have the "you'll be off as soon as a contract comes along" worry so I'm really not that marketable to the perm roles.

God I'm even depressing myself. Don't worry peeps. April is around the corner, with new budgets so they'll start recruiting mid March or maybe even sooner.
I'm in exactly the same position, been out since November, 2 kids, mortgage, etc.. war chest will last me quite a way into the future but ultimately it's not good as it's just lost opportunity passing by.

CV is doing me justice, getting a few calls a week, had a few interviews, and got some more stuff in the pipeline, but so far still no signed contract in my hand.

Just sit tight and keep applying, something will come up - it always does. Last week when I got told 'it was a no' on the 2nd interview I actually found myself sitting questioning myself and wondering what the future holds. 1 week later and I'm 100% over the rejection and thinking onward and upward.. one job isn't the end of the world, I've had more calls this week with interest and opportunity and I know it's just a matter of time. Life has a habit of testing you, it will all turn out ok in the end! Good luck with the job searching... for your info, I decided that I was going to make the entire UK my job search, not just local.. if staying away from home 5 nights a week is the only solution, then so be it!
