    Accomodation in Luxembourg

I might move to Lux in order to start a new gig.

Can you recommend websites that offer rental accomodation in and around the city? I'm looking to rent a flat, I'm quite flexible on location (after 2 hours commuting in London I can do with half an hour in Lux !! ), the price would be (ideally) something between 700 - 800 euros.

    Thanks in advance,

    Viktor

You've made my day!! If I think twice I can become a fiscal nomad together with the caravan

Btw how's life have you been into some dodgy strip bars in Constanta yet?

Bonnevoie or Verlorenkost used to be OK. The Grund is also quite nice, but a bit humid.

A number of people that I know working in Luxembourg actually commute in from France, Belgium or even Germany, so I would say don't be nervous of looking further afield than Luxembourg itself.

I guess it depends exactly where you expect to be working and how you travel.

800 euro will most probabbly get you nothing in City centre, more like 1000+.
anything you get will also require a deposit of 1 or 2 months (depending on the person/agency letting) and if it's through an agency you also need to pay them a months worth in commission.

              Popular sites:
              athome.lu
              immostar.lu
              plaza.lu
              .....my day will come

I stayed in a place that was dedicated to temp staff, it was close to the airport (not really an issue with flights tho as the windows were double glazed), close enough to Luxembourg city and various locations where the banks have their offices (it used to take me no more than 10 mins by car to get to work at the JPM offices).

As far as rent goes, it is cheaper to live outside of Luxembourg but if you're only there for a short term contract you may be better off staying in a hotel and negotiate a deal with them because most of the land lords want 12+month rental agreements.

One of the other things you can do is sub rent off someone who is moving on, that's a fairly common thing to happen.

As to my original comment, unfortunately I just can't remember the name of the place right at the moment so I will get home and ask the wife if she can remember, failing that I will ask friends still over there to drive past and let me know.

I should add that they do your washing, make up the room and will do the dish washing as well for that little extra, plenty of off street parking as well.

700-800 euros will get you a small studio in Luxembourg, maybe furnished.

For that price you can get a decent flat in France, Germany or Belgium but then your commute will be much longer (closer to an hour each way) and you will likely spend some time in traffic jams.

                  Good Luck !

If you're travelling back to the UK at weekends I would recommend getting some where close to work. Bear in mind if you rent in Germany of France and stay beyond 6 months and have a rental contract, you'll have to register there as well and then you'll become tax resident. In Germany there are plenty of cheap Guest houses, EUR 30 plus, on the Moselle. If you look you'll also find cheap hotels just outside the city of Luxembourg, around EUR 45-50. There is a rather nice one on the French border, but you'd need a car.
                    I'm alright Jack
