In defence of Nixon Williams...
I deal with one person and one person only.. I have his email address and I send him copies of all my stuff every month. He works everything out and everything comes back within a reasonable time scale.
The only time I deal with someone different is when my personal tax return is being sorted out.
For £69 a month I couldn't be happier...Comment

After failing to inform me of certain deadlines various people were then 'on holiday' and I was expected to wait whilst being fined by HMRC. Alan didn't even have the courtesy to reply to my emails and subordinated my requests to other people, his attitude has changed as the company has grown.
Over two years I must have dealt with a dozen different people, Alan is quick to defend the company (cue the response from Nixon Williams - the truth hurts right?) but couldn't give a tulip about helping actual existing long time customers.
Do not touch them with a barge pole.
People may argue they have had good experiences but it is just a matter of time. My current accountant has already had several people move over to them from Nixon Williams, stating that they are just a farmed out sweat shop accountants.
Nixon Williams - where you really are just a number.
What exactly went wrong if you do not mind me asking... So I can keep an eye out for the same mistake

To be fair this is to reduce mistakes I would imagine.Comment

+1 for the happy Nixon Williams customers.
It's the same old story of the exceptional couple of cases gobbing off about how terrible they have been treated and woe is me etc. You pays your money and takes your choice.
There will be hundreds if not thousands more satisfied NW customers out there than these few complainants.

You're probably right. I have no axe to grind, just pointing out that compared to what I presently do, NW's requirement to send them lots of stuff is an unnecessary PITA.Originally posted by Dante View Post+1 for the happy Nixon Williams customers.

Can you define 'lots of stuff'?I have no axe to grind, just pointing out that compared to what I presently do, NW's requirement to send them lots of stuff is an unnecessary PITA.
I send them a copy of my monthly invoice and expenses (1x word doc and 1x excel doc - by email), and then copies of company phone bill and bank statements once a month.
I don't really see what all the fuss is about - it's called running a business.Comment

WHS, I do exactly the same.Originally posted by Dante View PostCan you define 'lots of stuff'?

I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

Those of you with good experiences -fantastic, I just wish I had the same...
I havent posted any harsh or biased comments against NW, just the facts of events that happened to me...
The biggest thing for me was the dealing with 6 different people. Even after my post I got ANOTHER email stating I had a new account manager, this email was from my old account manager, whom i'd never heard a single word from before!!
The new account manager has already called and emailed me which is a good sign, although not to the extent I would like.... i.e I would love a call to make sure I am maximising my income as per the sales chatter when I signed up....
Due to the above problem which for me was a big problem, it then made all the little niggles/problems push me over the edge really.
Also I have not received my quarterly management accounts, not sure if they are due yet as they have never even been mentioned, again other than in the sales chatter.
I have not yet had any reminders from NW with regards to monthly invoices, expenses, VAT, PAYE. I believe I had one reminder for something when it was overdue, I would rather have these reminders BEFORE they are due...
I am a premier client so I would expect this higher level of service before anyone mentions that for £60 I shouldnt expect them to hold my hand.
At the end of the day there is no personal touch or client to business relationship between myself and NW, and this is down to NW not being proactive in any way shape or form.
Oh on the positive side of things I would like to say that Craig from NW is excellent, the few times I have been lucky enough to deal with him he has been extremely helpful and full of CORRECT knowledge, more than can be said for other members of staff!!Comment

Were I Alan, I would find it more than a little suspicious that someone creates an account here seeming just to have a pop at an accountants. Were I a cynic, which of course I'm not, I would wonder which accountants you work for, which of course I don't.
Oh, and I am with planIT so I couldn't give a monkeys either way.....just seems a little suspicious to me that's all.Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
