Just wandering how many of you lot are currently out of work.... as there doesnt seem to be much going at present.

from my conversations to a good few Rec Cons there IS and ARE roles/work out there - its just taking time to get to commit stage - and there are now way more Perm roles than Contract. Now that things "appear" to settle in the financial market [or rather have been settled for 3-5 days] it would appear companies are just seeing how things go - Id suspect that come Jan / Feb things will get better and obv in April slightly more.

Yep me too, been benched a while now, though I have been doing an Open Uni course in the meantime, not like I have been sitting down doing nothing

I'm expected to be on the bench in a few weeks time. My OU course starts in November. Will have some money til xmas.... but need some more coming in somehow.

I'm not on the bench (yet) - just signing the extension through to the end of March, but it's a fantasy end date. As soon as the client gets what they need, they will be axing everyone, it's just a question of trying to guess when it will come.

Being off sick last week and this, plus next week's holiday isn't going down too well at the moment, either Oh well - I've got enough to last until November, at least.....

benched out of choice since June (travelling, gardening etc for a few months), had a contract lined up in september, only to be told they'd decided to go permie with it.

So only really spent the last month or so looking, sod all contracts in the ba/pm insurance lark atm.

My 6 month renewal got pulled yesterday (due to finish tomorrow) then today it was back on signed it quickly. I had lunch with my pimp though a week ago and she said the market is sh*t, she cover banks in the city. I always have a sniff around before renewal to see whats about and to be honest its the worst I've seen, I count myself lucky at the moment.
