Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I am an IT contractor that has recently landed a job with the MET. I specified my daily rate prior to interview and I nailed the interview and was offered the job. The recruiter then said that that another candidate was cheaper than me and the employer has asked if I would consider dropping my rate by 10%, i agreed but was not happy.
A friend has just landed a similar job with the MET and quoted the same daily rate as me. He also got the job and was not asked to negotiate the rate.
It seems odd that this role is worth £xxx per day but LA international didnt fight my corner for my desired rate.
I suspect i was offered the job at the rate i wanted but LA want to take a bigger chunk of the pie. Is there anything i can do abut this as another friend has landed a job with LA and all the guys around him are on more but doing the same job!

          Thanks
Are you at the Meteorological Office or the Metropolitan Police Service...?

I had exactly the same experience. Turned out the agent was telling the truth; the client's HR bod who bargained me down was on holiday when my contract was printed, so my original rate stood

I've found LA International to be ok and quite up front in my experience.

                  errr yes!
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                  I preferred version 1!

What was the 'job title' for this project? Sounds like interesting work . .

                    cheers
