Looking at some of the other posts it is not just me getting calls for permie work - Don't mind so much if they are:-
Well paid, Relevent and Local - may even think about it untill times pick up
I can only put it down to staff in permie jobs are staying put - thinking about job security or - companies think they can pick up an ex contractor who will more then likely have a wider, and more indepth knowledge on the cheep.
Oh well - only been a week and I am already fed up of jobserve, housework and day time telly.
Off to get bottle of wine for later......Just call me Matron - Too many handbagsComment

I got a 6 month C# contract 3 weeks before I finished my current one.
First time I have had a contract queued up waiting.
Definitely a lot less phone calls / conversion to interviews though.Originally posted by cailin maithHang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar??Comment

When was that?
I started looking in August and failed to find anything in 7 weeks and went permie, as it was a shame to eat into savings.
Still, it Pays the bills :-/

On the bench from this week for the first time since contracting (20 months). Progress so far:
1 senior guy from previous project wants to keep me on in new project, but it will take a month or two to start recruiting (so I need to look round).
Put CV on Monster on Tuesday - two calls, both irrelevant (one wrong location, one wrong skills)
Tuesday, phoned for job - job on hold.
Wednesday, phoned for job - 'need more details from end client'.
I work in a niche part of health IT and am quite choosy about location as I have a baby at home and have saved my cash so can hold out a good long while.
No sign of downturn as clients are public sector or suppliers to public sector.Comment
