    Client treating us as Permies

Making us attend stupid strategy meetings, dept risk reviews etc... We've declined and pointed out that we're contractor and none of this is our place. they have been v pushy and insisted. I've got round this by double booking myself for bulltulipe meetings... I've even been invited to a staff day in September which i declined flat pointing out i'm not staff.

What is a good way of educating the client to world of IR35 of which they claim they understand?
I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

They obviously aren't paying enough to feel hostile. Just up your rate by 30% at the next renewal, they'll stop inviting you to anything then.

      2 Choices:-

      a) Either sit them down and explain you are a separate company, brought in to do a job and that they need to stop treating you like perm staff. Risk is doing this they may not understand or agree and you lose the contract.

      b) Say nothing and get on with it, collect $200, pass GO.

        I vote b....

I would sit down with them and explain how the way they are treating you may cause the government to see you as a permie and point out the financial liabilities they incur if this does happen. Once the CFO realises how much it could cost him i'm sure they will stop inviting you to meetings

Yeah, except fpr one Swiss bank I was at, where they set up a half-day team-building meeting, which was:
            1. Compulsory for all,
            2. Not chargeable for contractors.

I found it impossible to make them see a contradiction there.

Just go along, one Bank I was at for 4 yrs treated all contractors better than permies! In fact, most of the ppl working there were 'tractors. Plus, you get free beer - loads of it!

I wouldn't worry about it. You could probably educate 1 or 2, but its not really worth the effort. Moreover, if you decline meetings that would probably be looked down upon you.
Atleast feel happy that IR35 and the legislation is now many peoples bread winner.

                  2 Options

1: Decline the meetings & tell them to get stuffed, use the time to sleep. Then get coffee

2: Accept, attend & sleep. Then get coffee

Either way, sleep & coffee are good ;0

                    1. Hold your own Meetings and insist that all of their staff and employees attend.
                    2. Arrange your own 1/2 day team building exercise and insist that they all attend
