Move to new contract within same company

Opinions please. I am currently on a 3 month contract due to end in August. For the purposes of this thread let's assume they offer a renewal.
There is a possibility of a new contract within the same company but working on something quite different in another part of the business.

Anyone see any issues with simply not renewing existing contract and moving to the new one (available when existing one finishes).

The only issue I can see is if they both want you. In my experience they might end up talking to each other and deciding which role needs you the most, which could get a bit messy if you only want to do one. If you refuse a renewal and they feel you are letting them down they may block the second role.

No, assuming you get a new schedule since your current one won't describe your new work (you do have a schedule, don't you...).

You might have to do some horse trading between the client's managers though.

What do you consider a schedule? I have nothing apart from in my contract it says will provide skill A. New contract would just say skill B.
