I got my first SC finally through in the first 3 month extension to the project.

On another project, near Vauxhall, they wouldn't let me on site until the SC was through. ( Apparently it wasn't possible to transfer MoD SC to Plod SC at the time ). I was somewhat annoyed to find that one of the PwC consultants never even applied for SC, and yet somehow was able to work. He was from NI, so perhaps he had reasons for not wanting to go through clearance...

cough I (may) have known people who managed to do this (not me). The entire system is a total joke (IMHO).

I've worked with people from NI who got clearance. It just takes them longer than other people........

BTW two months ago an agent rang me up about a permie job requiring SC clearance and he stated that he couldn't consider people who wheren't SC cleared.

The security bloke who came round to do my BC was a tad scary. Do they interview your family for SC? All that for a crappy MoD job?

Neither BC nor SC usualy involve an interview. Just fill out the form and off you go.
The interview is usualy for DV.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

That's odd, I was definitely vetted by an actual security person (perhaps the company I was working for wasn't large enough to have its own security person) - he came round and asked me about the points on my driving license Got the BC no bother (and was BC+ on the next one, but admittedly no interview there)

I'm waiting on clearance to start a new role. They only considered me in the first place because I once had clearance in the past.

The scary thing is I got the impression the other candidates were rubbish and they wanted me despite my higher rate. There are probably some useless, out of touch SC contractors doing the rounds.

Interesting. Was there a discrepancy between your form and your actual history perhaps? Or, of course, it might have just been a random QA test of the process; given the subject matter, I rather doubt we'd ever be told!

They may then be able to actually fill their open positions, contractors get some good experience in those environments, seems like it would be a "win - win" situation to me.

                      whats the role and location?
