    Contracting in USA

Anyone know of any pimps (that might frequent this forum), contacts or otherwise who might have potential contracts in USA? Location or length of contract not important. Prince2, ITIL, PM, SC, DV & more

No Green Card, family relations or big bucks to start a business.

    Welcome all thoughts.

Without a green card you can expect to be royally ripped off.

It is impossible to contract in the US in the same way as we do in the UK unless you find your own work. You have to work "Agency PAYE", and the margins that agents work on for these contracts (even for people who do have green cards) is much higher than Brits are used to.

Usually, you can expect to be offered the same number of dollars as you might bill in pounds. And yes, this is less than you might expect to get as a perm.

I don't think there'll be much demand for PRINCE2 or ITIL over there and you're security clearance won't be recognised.

For PM work you'll need PMBoK qualifications and APM membership.

Does the US still have a scheme (I think from the reagan era) where anyone with a millions dollars can get citizenship?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Yep, though I'm not sure that the sum is a million dollars

I'm looking at getting an H2 visa. They needs lots of Muppets harvest time to drive combine harvesters and trucks over the states and a small part of me wants to ditch the contractor lifestyle and go there for $2k a month just becuase I can.

Economically now has to be one of the worst times to move to / work in the US

Create an account on LinkedIn, build a bit of a network and that will help.

Do you really think the UK is going to be much better this year?

No, but without a Green Card it will be the hardest to hire who will be affected first.
