I was just discussing this today.

Basically the concept is thus:

whatever your daily rate, translate it to cash. And then imagine having a pound coin placed on your desk at the appropriate interval by the client. (about every sixty seconds I guess.)

Of course not practical, but a nice desktop app to start in the morning with animated 10p coins entering a piggy bank every few seconds (the rate would be determined based on your daily rate and hours), would be quite a pleasant sight...
