Previous answer on PCG still stands.

ICBW but I don't think QDOS are including PI at that price, looks more like PLI/ELI only
    Blog? What blog...?

I've just had mine after me to renew - £509 - I think I'll opt for the PCG (£280) and get the Randell and Dorling Insurance package (£180).
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

      I preferred version 1!

http://www.randelldorling.co.uk/ will only give a quote online once I am in the PCG! I have emailed asking for a quote.

qdosconsulting charges more usual PI rates to anyone other than IT contractors. as I am now moving away from my previous risky stance I want to do things with a high degree of confidence - they seem be be charging between a third/quarter of other companies. but I will see what they email me back with - or maybe they will comment on this thread?

I just got this back by email from qdos

"You’ll notice that the premium is quite a bit lower than you may find elsewhere. This is because the majority of our clients are IT contractors, meaning we can produce an ‘off the shelf’ type policy at a reduced cost. Rest assured that the policy will be fully operative should you ever need it!"

I do like the fact that they anticipated my question! And also that they have an account on here. And that no-one has said anything negative about them atall.

"Join the PCG (£280) and get the Randell and Dorling Insurance package (£180). Easy."

What do you get for the £180? What levels of insurance?

And you can pay in interest free installments with QDOS, and suspend parts of the cover when on the bench.

              I like spreading the cost.

Enough. £1m PI + £10m PLI + £1m ELI from memory, assuming you're a normal boring everday IT bloke not working on risky systems.

Because of our work with IT contractors in the past (IR35 etc) and the fact that most of our contractor clients work in IT, we've been able to negotiate low rates with the underwriters. As mentioned, we can offer policies to many other trades but premiums will normally be a bit higher.

You also get the Freelance Club membership (which includes 3 IR35 contract assessments) at no cost.

                  Hope that answers your queries.
JUst to say I went with qdos having had a good look round - the agent is happy with that.

The service from qdos has been excellent - highly recommended.

Given the sector I work in a think the chance of a claim is remote(famous last words). I hope I never have to report back on how the claim procedure works!

If there was a claim, who would it be against? Me as an individual, or against the company?

For any claim just refer it onto the insurance company without comment.
