Surge in Agents fishing for clients.

I’ve been observing huge surge in agents fishing for clients. The modern line is:

Agent: Hi , your CV is great. I have about 10 positions that might suit you. Who have you been interviewing with ? What interviews do you have lined up ? I am asking because I don’t want to put you forward where you’ve been put. ( lol Yeah right you fecker - that is exactly your concern).

After I reply that I don’t have any interviews or I am not discussing this their immediate reply is : Ohh, so you have problems finding work , why is that ? Are you unsuccessful ?

The last line , their last hope that you will start defending your professional credibility by giving out details about your interviews, is pathetic.

At first I was being polite explaining my non-disclosure policy of this type of information , but I am fed up now and had the last to feckers hung up on me.

What are they thinking ? Every normal person will get the pattern after 2 -3 calls like that. ( I know - they don't care )

I am seriously considering coming up with some fake company / interview and have them waste their time , not mine.

I have been out of the game for a while, and have noticed this behaviour in the last few weeks as I re-entered the market. I definitely think you're onto something.

I just tell them I haven't started looking seriously yet and they are the first. It feels nice to pretend I can still act like finding another contract is easy and I'm not worried.

    Oh, to return to 1998!

I've spent far too long crawling these forums, so I've bitten the bullet today and signed up (I just hope I don't regret this).

I really despise people wasting my time, some kind of honey pot to point time wasting pimps at would be satisfying I reckon.

      Awesome idea!

Is it just pimps that get to see this honey pot?

          What color are they?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

I reckon any kind of sales scum should be introduced to it, although how you redirect someone whos offering to upgrade your mobile again is another matter.

After you do your sums, it rarely is "a better dealings than your current dealings".

I did that. They got p!!!ed off with me especially when I explained I had been doing a long commute for a year so was tired. When they started digging further for my "line manager" I explained truthfully I had done work for different people in the company so I could only refer them to HR.

Strangely 2 agents got abusive and one guy had to tell me he was going to end the phone call "now" because I wouldn't give him my "line manager's" details.

If they were really polite I gave the name of one of 2 HR ladies. Both the ladies were on maternity leave and I felt they where not going to come back to the company due to their own long commute. It was a smallish office so anyone will quickly realise that the guys are pimps and won't give them the correct details.

When working for Eurotunnel some years back, I just gave the agents my line managers French number. He was quite delighted to feign having no English (like most French people in fact).

That's genius, I'm goint to use that one myself,
Some people are like slinkys, totally pointless but the thought of pushing them down a flight of stairs never fails to put a smile on your face.
