Effect of VAT on contract rates

Those operating individually without a limited company may not chanrge VAT. With limited company, we usually charge 17.5% VAT over the contract rate. Will this have any impact on the rate we get?

Given these facts, would the clients prefer contractors who do not charge VAT, to save the VAT amount?

makes no odds, the VAT isn't yours and the VAT they pay is claimed back or offset??

I think you need to read the guides. VAT is independent of turnover and can be ignored.

Also, just to be clear, how you work doesn't matter, once you pass the £64k gross turnover threshold you have to be registered for VAT.

And if you use the flat rate scheme you could make a few extra quid into the bargain - but that topics been covered elsewhere..
