    Problems with Clipper Contracting Group

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out because I’ve hit a breaking point with Clipper Contracting Group and am hoping someone else has dealt with something similar — or can offer advice.

    Here’s the situation:
    • I was due to be paid on Monday 14th April for work done via agency Digisourced for all of March, paid through Clipper.
    • On Tuesday 15th, Clipper confirmed they’d received the payment instruction late and said the pay would be processed.
    • On Wednesday 16th, I was told the funds had been “released” and would clear overnight by an account manager who was looking in to it for two days, and by their SMS notification which always says I’ve been paid and it goes in to my account in seconds, but this one said clearing overnight. Sorry, what?!
    • But nothing arrived. I chased multiple times, and finally found a payslip showing the payment was only processed on Friday 18th (so in the future), and via BACS, not Faster Payments.
    • That means I won’t see the money until Tuesday 22nd, leaving me unpaid for 8 days, and I’m now unable to pay my rent or bills.
    • I’ve sent four emails since Sunday night, including to escalate and request a Faster Payment advance during the early hours today — but I’ve been met with silence.
    • The only communication from Clipper was a generic email at 6pm today blaming Barclays for a technical issue — but Barclays’ status page shows no problems now, and their “issue” wouldn’t explain the late processing of my payment in the first place

This is now the second month in a row I’ve been misled about my pay. I’m exhausted and really struggling, and I feel like Clipper has either lied or completely ignored their own policies.

Has anyone else had this experience with Clipper?
    • Can I take legal action for unpaid wages?
    • Is there any route other than waiting for BACS to land tomorrow?
    • Should I go public or involve a regulator (FCSA)?

Any help or shared experiences would be so appreciated. I feel like I’m shouting into the void while they sit on my wages.

    Thanks in advance.

I will mention Chris Bryce (which means the FCSA is aware) - cojak can you give the OP PM rights so he can PM Chris his NI number...

I suspect it's one of those things but late payment isn't on especially when the easter break is here..

Reality is an employer is responsible for the consequences of late payment - my f-i-l had multiple stories of people going to the Kings Cross Ticket office with request for instant payment when British Rail screwed payroll up - so document any additional fees so you can claim for the costs of their screwup (if it is one).
