If so then it's not a million miles away from the idea that Andy Hallett had of creating a service where you do a video profile of yourself that clients can watch rather than do CV and interview.

Springing it on you in the actual interview is really stupid though. Poor form on their part. Absolutely no need to do that and wastes everyones time.
Even then, he never explained it that way. he just said it was for "training purposes"

So I will go back to my previous question, why did you think it was worth time attending an interview with the agent - the only time I've done that has been for Id checks.
I didn't know why he wanted to meet with me first. So yes, you're right - that part is a bit unusual - but I chalked it up to him wanting to make sure I wasn't a lunatic or something before having me meet the client. It wasn't a huge red flag and given that it was on Google video, it didn't put me out too much.

Doesn't a video come under PII data and GDPR just because your face is on it? If not it's highly likely other PII data will be divulged through the interview so I am sure 'for training purposes' doesn't cut it under data protection laws does it?

Do the interview, get the role ( or don't get the role ), then invoke your right to be forgotten under GDPR.

It won't be long before the agent interviews of IT service providers are recorded like this, before the video and results are sent to the end clients.

"Is it true you have 15 years experience of Windows 11 desktop support?"

I think you are forgetting one small fact there.

Had an interview earlier this year for a company. Perm job and their interview format was a on demand video interview.

You had a few technical questions and you gave the answers on a webcam recording. No one was in the interview. Was strange. Kind of like an actor doing an audition.

"The Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018) continues to apply. The provisions of the EU GDPR were incorporated directly into UK law at the end of the transition period. The UK GDPR sits alongside the DPA 2018 with some technical amendments so that it works in a UK-only context."

That said, the right to be forgotten/deleted only applies if the processor/collector no longer requires the data for the purpose for which it was originally collected, which could be why they cited "training purposes". Similarly the organisation can deny the right of deletion if the erasure of the data would likely to impair or halt progress towards the achievement that was the goal of the processing, i.e. if they no longer have a training video.

This is very common for interim work. Some specialist interim firms I know won't work with you until they've met you and done quite a through screening.

I don't really have any problem with this tbh. One of my friends is going through the permie recruitment process these last few months.

He has a phone call interview with HR, then a video meeting with a mid level manager. Then either an in face meeting or another video with senior mangers of the business. Then in one case having gone through all of this the owner wanted to meet him too!

Wouldn't it be easier just to record the interviews so that senior people can easily review the candidates and what was said?

Often people say, they will save your CV for future positions. But people being people, by then they have probably forgot who you are and what you said. How much better is it to be able to refer back to the video?
