    Prince Training

Hi all, I want to do some Prince training, to make me a bit more marketable. I prefer the Service Delivery side to pure Project stuff but people are often looking for a bit of both.
So, what is the flavour to aim at (Prince 2 ?) and is there a foundation course or similar that gets me in the game ?
In addition, anyone know a good place to get it done, I will be coughing up for it so cost is an issue, last minute deals etc North West of England preferred !!
    Thanks in advance.

Your post implies you have done absolutely no research into this. I suggest you do some.

Overall, you can take a Prince2 foundation course then a practitioners course. The foundation exam is multiple choice, the practitioners exam is essay style.

I would say make sure it is relevant to what you do otherwise you're just wasting your money...

    Older and ...well, just older!!

PRINCE2 is getting more and more widespead so it should be relevant if you are a PM/wannabe PM. I suppose you are IT based then I have seen lots of adverts where ITIL is favoured to PRINCE2.

If you are going to do prince2 use www.maventraining.com as they are the dogs b0llocks and have the highest foundation/practioner rates in the country

Edit: I got my last minute deal through www.pentagonit.co.uk saved a bundle

If cost is a real issue, then you can purchase the materials, do self study and just pay for the exam. There are a few "open" exams every year (in Milton Keyenes, York and Chester) for people who want to do it independently.

Thats the way I did it.

Go to www.prince2.org.uk for full details - which also gives a list of accredited training companies.

I did Prince 2 Practioner with Maven Training - very good. I passed.

I spoke to loads of macho big bollokks IT PM guys who went to the open exam and failed and then failed again.

But its not that IT specific - the 3 cases I did for the exam was manufacturing electronics, air transportation, and water distribution.

It was fun to do. And £2500.

Never used it either to get a contract.

Trust me if your doing the foundation go for the practioner. You'll know enough after the foundation to do the practioner anyway.

PRINCE2 foundation has no value in the market
PRINCE2 Practitioner has a tiny wee bit of value (there are lots of jobs that specify it as a pre-requisite).

So, I'd advise doing Practitioner or nothing.

I've used www.skillsolve.co.uk. They're OK, tutors are adequate, materials are good, price is cheap (c. 5-600 for Practitioner). Know a few people who have used Maven, they all rated it pretty highly.
Plan A is located just about here.
If that doesn't work, then there's always plan B

                    Aye.

I wouldnt advise anyone going on PRINCE2 that its going to set the world on fire I just got it so that i can apply for all the gigs that state PRINCE2 is a must have piece of paper for applying.

I've only had one or two people say "oooo...your a PRINCE2 guy. Most pimps dont know what it means".
