      I don’t think there’s any general solution for a majority of today’s contracting market that looks like this. If you’re a specialist (by which I mean that there are tens or hundreds of people like you worldwide, not thousands or tens of thousands), then you’re probably already operating this way, direct to clients, using your network. It’s the natural outcome of market forces operating in your favour, rather than the client’s, just as agency based work is the natural solution to broad spectrum IT and other labour supplies. No contractor or group of contractors is likely to change these market forces, but it is perfectly possible for a contractor to specialise and build a network. By definition, a majority won’t because it is high risk. The most risk-free way to specialise is to start as a permie and to become a contractor much later.

        And, as per a vast majority of these posts, OP doesn't like the response to his master plan, gets upset and flounces.

        Nothing changes.

          *cough*

          I can normally rely on my accountant, he's been instrumental in keeping me on the right side of IR35 for 20 years...

          Know any good specialists?

              Never heard of them - which shows how had it is to get these things started and reach the critical mass required.

                    Education of large end clients about who to throw under the inside IR35 bus would work best.

                    At the moment, it seems that they've been scared into a PSC ban by people who benefit from a PSC ban.

                      You misunderstand?. Let me rephrase my last post;

                      *Cough* Many great ideas had been tried before and failed every time, until they at last succeeded. For example: powered flight.
