As were I and my team when we walked out of two banks a month ago when they decided to go down the bully-boy alpha male "you have no choice" route.

To be fair, as per one of GoTarbera's recent comments on RBS: the place is full of utter morons and generic unskilled contractors, so I'm only glad I haven't had to work there for years and instead have relied on factual summaries from other people I know who have had to take a role there to tide them over.

I lasted three months in RBS up at Angel. Got out as quickly as I could! Such a pointless job, working on the Williams & Glyn project that went nowhere.

Absolutely. The very definition of a place with 99% permietractors.

Pre 2008 there was much less of that, although I would describe the atmosphere as completely toxic. If RBS disappeared entirely the other banking companies would be adequate to fill in the perceived gap in the market. It deserves to die, as it is now full of pretend roles and relatively pointless projects providing the illusion of progress.

So glad I'm not the only one who feels like that. I've worked there four times & the only reason I've gone back is because it's been commutable from home. I generally never say never but I'll never go back there. Plus I didn't leave on the best of terms last time [emoji23]

Don't worry, they have sufficient turn over that no-one will remember that

I overheard an amusing conversation at cleintco last week - they have gone from Mr Billy Big Bollocks about contractors to a very hushed and worried conversation about how many millions it will cost "just keep the lights on". Not bothered as I am offski anyway but hopefully part of an outbreak of realism.

Nope. Pal of mine found an outside role in a fund when his banking client dumped on him. Took him about 5 days.

                    I feel your pain.

That contract was the epitome of ‘carry on and keep invoicing’.

I lasted about 1 month at RBS, well over a decade ago. Notified of rate cut 3 days into contract. Found something else and told them to stuff it.
