    2018 Skill Demand

What trends are you seeing emerging in 2018?

Coding seem pretty solid, Cybersec & GDPR are buzzing my phone off the hook.

AI, Blockchain & ML all seem in the permie space.

Seems like the "softer" stuff like PMs, BAs, & OPS are still down - if not stagnent.

How are you finding your area/niche?

I wouldn't call GDPR a skill in the same vein as PM and BAs. Isn't it going to be a bit mad for a bit and then more or less die down?

"coding" is a bit of a sweeping generalisation

I want my account deleted and all of my information removed, I want to invoke my right to be forgotten.

You are right, GDPR is more of an umbrella for skills in many areas.

I think it is going to get madder after the 28th of May. I think a lot of Clientcos will start panicing after this date and drive rates up even higher. I can see this one stretching out for a couple of years, while revision cycles happen and skeletons come out of the closet.

And I am a generalist in this area. It would be interesting if you could expand.

                28th is a Bank Holiday

                  Big Data is big
What happens in General, stays in General.
You know what they say about assumptions!

GDPR is just like Y2K. Big Data is similar imho.

I can see testing as a contracting opportunity all but dieing except for niche areas as companies look to make TA \ Snr TA roles permanent placements rather than contract. If you dont have automation skills, better get training!
