When we shop in Germany, a trolley load is ~€100 (120CHF). When we shop in Coop, it's twice that. For a smaller trolley. Meat in Switzerland is very expensive. Tasty though.

When I worked in Zurich my boss told me in the mountains they eat cat. I never believed him. Until we went for dinner in Rotterdam. He went to a thai restaurant and ordered the hottest thing on the menu as hot as the chef could make it. Then wolfed it down....

Ah yes, I did forget about the meat and fish prices. That you do want to avoid. Pork is cheap there, for some reason. But loading the trolley up with goods from Germany is more of an option in Basel than Zurich.

It's around 10K CHF net per month that is 120K per year. Lets say 20K gone for house/room whatever. How could you waste 100K left. Can we try to do it on high level. Cant understand how much would be left out of those 100K.

          Thanks
You have to work through a swiss brolley, and have dual taxation to worry about, potentially at the £100k+ level. Thats what eats it all up...

Switzerland is very nice - It will do your career and your resume a world of good

Accommodation is expensive but you can rent a room only

10K net is pretty decent indeed! You can live nicely and you might be able to move and get 1100 CHF a day when you are here and settled in.

The days of 1100 a day in finance in Zurich are over sadly. Everything is being moved to Poland

What have you got to lose?

I agree. In this moment the only thing I cant figure out is how much will be my saving per month. Of course this depends on my lifestyle. But surely out of 10K net per month, 2K will be for accomodation, 1K to eat, 1 K for everything related to insurance and admin stuff, than it's around 6K CHF saving. AM i totally wrong?

But you’re not going to get 10K net a month, are you?

You have health insurance as well as the other outgoings.

But since you’re keen and at least one poster agrees with - just make your own decision and go for it.

What have you got to lose?

I really liked Zurich the 3 months I lived there. Maybe that proves I was boring even in my mid twenties....

Can’t believe i’ve not mentioned my £18 jacket potato yet.

My favourite Swiss city is Bern, love it!
