Really? Sounds like a body shop to me.Originally posted by mcNinja View PostMy mistake with the terminology. This is a consultancy.Comment

Yes, really. My first post says I'm new to this. Surely it's not far fetched that I don't know exactly all the information that might help with the advice people can give.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostReally?
Until I mentioned get a job with a consultancy you called them an "agency".
I'm not sure what you're getting at here really? I already mentioned I made a mistake with the terminology. If you're suggesting I changed what the company was simply because you mentioned it then that's pretty presumptuous and a little unfair.
I'm just seeking some advice from more experienced people than myself.Comment

You could be right. I know some folk that work there and they rate it highly. That's all I've got to go on at the moment really.Originally posted by SeanT View PostReally? Sounds like a body shop to me.Comment

Well you've got a host of opinions here to go on but you don't seem to want to hear and continue to argue how good it is so fill your boots. Good luck.Originally posted by mcNinja View PostYou could be right. I know some folk that work there and they rate it highly. I am listening to the opinions and think there's been some good advice so far. I'm not arguing how good it is, only clarifying the role and company. How good or bad it is who knows!Originally posted by northernladuk View PostWell you've got a host of opinions here to go on but you don't seem to want to hear and continue to argue how good it is so fill your boots. The advice I was hoping for was on the Java contract market and the contract role vs permanent and I'd still hope for some opinions on that. Particularly the first part.
Thanks for the advice.Comment

Have a look at Jobserve and do a search for java. See how many roles in your area or where you are willing to work. Make sure you match the spec exactly. Not the ones you think you might be able to do or could fit in to with a bit of time/learning. You have to have the exact skills and experience required. That should give you some idea.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!

Whichever it is there is something called a bench, which is when you are sitting idle (OK, training) and not being billed to a client. If you are benched and they can't place you within X weeks they are not likely to keep paying you.Originally posted by SeanT View PostReally? Sounds like a body shop to me.Comment

that's how some "real" consultancies work!Originally posted by northernladuk View PostI hate these agency perm setups. Right rip off. They'll put you at the client, when your done youll have to go to their office to look for more work which you won't find and they'll make you redundant after a month. Really poor setups. Another reason to walk away from it all.Comment
