    I know cases that they are taking 50% margins but paid on time by the agency.
    We should be carefull with these guys, specially if you are a subcontractor.

      I was paid monthly a month behind, slightest query on a timesheet and you got nothing until the next payroll run, one guy had his overtime queried two months on the trot so went three months between payments. The only problem I had was wanting references for the last 5 years and a copy of my degree certificate despite having graduated 25 years ago in a completely unrelated discipline, then getting chased for references from people they hadn't managed to contact.

If you can work that out - does it not give you some leverage to up what is a very poor rate for a consultancy PM in what is ligely to be a fairly crap working environment?

          Because after a while the end client has realised all the projects are not GREEN GREEN GREEN with zero issues as they report every week without fail , they are actually red red red with plenty of issues and need people to sort the mess

            And then the client go to the failing provider and tell them to fix it, thereby perpetuating the problem, instead of hiring people themselves to fix the issue and sending the bill to the provider.

I have made a point of asking if this was a FTC - to which "no" was the answer....so what gives?

              Small alarm bells are ringing - namely that although I would be contracted to TM, it is via a low cost Indian body shop agency...so will I get paid promptly. My previous contracts are 3 months max (although they usually roll-over for 18/24 months) - does anyone else have experience of this setup? My gut reaction is to take the role but keep looking elsewhere....not my usual modus operandi but am nervous of getting drawn in to what could be a messy arrangement. I don't have the actual paperwork yet so don't know what the exit terms are but will update this once I have more info.

                  We've touched on expenses, but just as the OP is new I thought I'd point out that a 24-month contract is automatically caught out by the 24-month rule from day 1.
                  This means travel/accommodation expenses come out after tax/NI not before. Run away.

                    Thanks for the info. Just to be clear...in reading the 24 month advice elsewhere on the site, Contractors' Questions: Can I claim if a short gig ends up lasting 25 months? :: Contractor UKit would only be a problem if the contract was at a permanent workplace and was extended beyond 24 months.

                      The rule kicks as soon as you know the gig is 24 months, so this one is caught from day one.
