    No Contract

Is it normal to start a contract without having signed anything ? The umbrella/management company I'm using is still 'reviewing' mine and the agent just called and said they wanted me to start tomorrow, not Wednesday and the contract 'can be sorted'...

What do you guys think ?

I have started without one quite a few times but I'd probably be a bit wary these days if I didn't know the agent. Get an email from the agent stating they want you to start on a certain day and how much you will be getting paid. Sometimes its better to play along for a day or two rather than miss out on a good contract.

If you don't know (and trust) the agency, I would generally advise against it. Who is the agency? Perhaps some of us may have some experiences which might help you to make a decision.

They are e a consulting, I've never heard of them, but this is only my second contract.

I've also asked for a month's notice period, is this about right ?

In Richmond? I had an interview with them, but that was through another agency. They've obviously twigged they can save some cash and do it themselves.

And...I have to see a knee specialist tomorrow, so I'll have to run away for a couple of hours. grrrr.

What notice period did they offer you?

No, it isn't. Notice is for Permies and people who want to be stitched up for IR35. You don't need it and shouldn't have it.

Surely if you can do that then you don't need to see the specialist

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
