What's the situation if you're contracting for Fujitsu at a PS client?
Would PS client want to know each consultant's status?

The details are still being debated but the idea is that the body (agency/prime contractor/end client) who makes the payment to the contractor would be responsible for deciding status.

In general we've heard reasonable things about both those agencies, but you may want to consider this which IPSE is seriously concerned about. We're currently putting together our response to HMG's consultation and rallying the troops to fight against these proposals.

So, just focusing on this current contract opportunity, and disregarding the longer term implications - is it too naive to be thinking this is a 6 month gig and I'll be out before this takes effect ?!

My work history has predominantly been private sector, so I'm not too concerned about passing up public sector stuff in the future.

The earliest this can come into force is April 2017.

Good day for me so far!

Just had another opportunity drop into my mailbox - direct from a contact at a global bank, and they've suggested Reed as the agency. And, working form home for the majority. Will wait and see what the Reed contract looks like before checking if any other agencies are on the PSL.

If the changes come in as per the consultation details it will be a complete disaster for all involved.
I've already turned down a role at the Bank of England because of the potential changes coming into the Public Sector. Can't see any aware contractors wanting to be involved in the car crash to come. Sadly there are many many contractors (and agencies for that matter) out there who just don't have a clue.

Sounds like a complete train wreck. Leaves the door wide open for Wipro and the like to offer cheap BoS/PoS contractors who don't care about getting "IR35ed".

I'm not sure they pass some of the rules the PS has about suppliers though?

Isn't there also an example which covers a supplier with multiple people on site and each person has still to meet the rules. A consultancy model still doesn't work? Could be wrong there though.

Does that mean that they'll be looking at cleaners, photocopier service engineers, etc as well? What a lovely can of worms they're opening.

But it makes it easy for the client - they pay treble the price to the systems integrators, and they don't have to deal with the hassle. That's the way to save money
